Choice is a very powerful thing, it determines ones immediate and not so immediate future. Choice comes in handy in the process of decision making. Everything in life is choice, be it yours or others. When we analyze and judge merits and de-merits of multiple options, we come to a final decision based on our choice.
Very basic choices that we make daily are what to eat , what to wear etc. Since your birth and till you die, life is all about choices. When you are a toddler/ kid, parents choose for you , ideally you can’t do anything about that when you are still learning to walk (wink). Adolescence lets you wonder and allow you to have thoughts as your mind (mostly governed by hormones) but still allows you to think and have thoughts about yourself and others or about life in general , constructive or destructive but being that young one is not sure whether they have to be acted upon or not and the well-wishers around influence one’s decision, parents/relatives/friends/teachers could be any of these , be it in favor or against.
Many times love life is also influenced by family, relatives etc, one is not allowed to choose their life partner in many parts of the world or in many circumstances they are put in emotionally/forcibly. For example if a girl/boy love someone but are unable to be together due to many external forces , like opposing family/caste etc , their forced relationships might do more harm than good but that’s the tricky part, you have to take charge of your own life and bear the consequences yourself, be it good or bad but there will never be that regret of not being able to choose your own life and how you want to live it. If you choose out of any other feeling rather just your own instinct , your life/journey may be missing out on being real and you may feel guilty or wrong upon that decision. One can be inspired by many things/people in life in making a choice but at the end of the day it only has to be your own choice that influences your life , no one else is responsible for that. If you feel that you are making a choice not by your own instinct but by any other factor, stop right there and reconsider your options.
In life, Ā from our everyday routine to the things that will matter 10 or 20 years down the line , in future, every moment you are making a choice and that defines your life. Time is like a river and you can’t go back in time, so our choices make the next move where our life might flow and every moment in your life’s timeline changes and repercussions coming from those choices. There are a lot of choices that we make eventually shape up our life the way we want it to be shaped but sometimes that choice is made by someone else and we willingly or by force agree to it. This is very dangerous situation to be in, if that person who is making the choice for you, against your will, is someone who you respect and care and are scared to tell them the truth, in fear of losing a relationship with them forever.
Of course, there are positives and negatives of the choices we make, both have a major impact on our lives. One should be very careful in making choices about one’s own self, without the fear of being judged.
