The year 2020, gave a fresh perspective to an already functioning world that would still be running if not for the Pandemic and we might just have depleted the planet to an extent where, the changes done might be irreversible. As of now, we still are dealing with the repercussions of the standstill the entire planet was on.
There was always a conversation about saving the planet and keeping it the same, if not better, for generations to come but no one stood up to make sure that we move towards bettering the environment and somehow the planet itself took that ownership to make sure Earth heals, the cause for it being very unfortunate but eventually the environment was healing when humans started to go out less in the world.
Starting from air, water and the skies, everything was getting cleaner and better as the entire human race was sitting at home and waiting for things to get back to “normal”. But that’s where we needed to re-define the definition of “normal”, whether the way we were living was it even “normal”. Every person was running towards getting a life that we can live with our family/close ones but did we even stop to think that there is no point, where a human might feel that they have arrived and have a stable life and this realization unfortunately started syncing in once the Pandemic started.
If we talk about the environment/air first, when the pandemic started the entire world went into a lock-down, to achieve betterment of our planet. Of course it was forced, but still in a way improved the air around us. Pollution drastically reduced leading to the repair of the Ozone layer around the planet, wildlife was improved and animals/creatures that were not be found or almost declared extinct started to surface and venture out in their natural habitat. The skies also became clearer, leading to the air borne creatures getting back to their natural way of living instead of looking out for fresh air and sticking to just one zone. Seasons around the world changed and for the better as temperatures went down and Polar caps also a little stabilized. If we talk about water, 70% of our planet is made of the water bodies that surround us and when the world stopped, everything unnecessary stopped flowing into the oceans and all aquatic life started to glow and flourish again.
Finally, our human race, there has been a lot of changes in our lifestyle that we were following before and at this stage where we are right now, not sure if the earlier pattern was even a lifestyle or we used to just rush through our day without feeling anything, running towards goals and targets that eventually might not be, what life is all about. During this year every single person on Earth had tremendous changes in their life. If one had shelter and food available for their family & friends, that is a privileged life as far as the year 2020 is concerned. Lot of people lost their lives, jobs, food, homes and much more, all of us who still are surviving and are comfortable enough, should be grateful that we survived and have not faced much difficulties compared to a large population on the planet.
There are a lot of intelligent people amongst us who are working on great things and even finding intelligent life out of our planet, to support and enable those and their ideas, the rest of us need to at least make sure we, as a race become aware and more intelligent to efficiently have this planet sustain comfortably.
As human beings and intelligent creatures we should come together and create a newer normal that is efficient and substantial than just looking at our own comfort and not looking at the larger scheme of things, how our actions affect the larger picture. We need to understand that this change was inevitable and much needed, the cause for it being very unfortunate but considering it as a silver lining for generations to come, the World has changed and it needs to evolve further to make the entire Eco-system sustainable.
Lets look at positives from the lock-down 7 billion people were in and make decisions to enhance and enable a better planet for us and generations to come.
